DESIGN CONCEPT & DEVELOPMENT

We were given the opportunity to design the album packaging for Renewal, which went on to win the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album that year. Design inspiration came from the mix of beautiful photography capturing natural light as well as such a momentous time in history both for Billy personally, and for the strangeness of the world navigating a global pandemic. 

During our creative process we knew we wanted to fuse the photography we were given with a slight nod to the current tour creative we’d designed, so we created a style guide of gradients and fonts to work from. The gradient carries through across the typography and onto the vinyl labels. To create contrast for the booklet we went with black and white photos and a monochromatic design.
